Another New Year... anothernew team member!

Tuesday 6th January 2009 10:10 PM

Esther and MarcusEsther Woolcock joined the CICS team on Jan 1st 2009. Tony found out a bit more about Esther for our readers.

Q. Welcome to CICS, Esther. It's great to have you as our new team member. Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself?
Well I was born and brought up in the lovely town of Halifax, so I am a Yorkshire girl through and through. I now live in Huddersfield with Marcus, who I married in May 2008. My Christian family taught me about Jesus and his love. I made a commitment as a Christian at a young age and God has been good to me.
Since completing my degree in English Language I have worked as a Learning Support Assistant at Rastrick High School where I have had the chance to meet some of the great students.

Q. What was your experience of Secondary school as a student.
I enjoyed learning and being with my friends at secondary school and had some really good times. However, at other times I remember it getting quite stressful, especially when there were exams to prepare for and lots of work to do. I found it a great help to be able to go along to the Christian Union at lunchtime- to chill out with some of my Christian friends and remember that God was as much a part of my school life as my home life.

Q. What is your experience of working with young people?
I have been involved with the Christian Union at Holy Trinity High School and the Impact Week held there. I really enjoyed both these experiences. I have also spent some time helping out with the youth work at Halifax Central Church which has helped me to develop my own faith and commitment.

Q. What inspires you about joining the CICS team?
I am really looking forward to meeting students and staff in our local schools, to offer encouragement and support. I am excited by the possibility of helping young Christians to grow in their faith and to become witnesses to their friends.

Please pray for Tony & Esther, that they may build a good working relationship.
