Welcome aboard to a new worker - and a new trustee!! This meant we had a vacancy for a second worker and we are delighted to be able to welcome Laura Woodfine to the CICS team to fill this post. Laura has just started work as Youth & Community Links (YACL) worker in Halifax town centre and will now be working for CICS as well for 6 hours a week. We asked Laura to introduce herself.
Hello! I am really pleased to have started work- ing in Halifax as a town centre youth worker
and to now be working with Tony, Esther and the CICS trustees. I have been made to feel very welcome by all in Halifax and look forward to meeting lots of young people both inside and outside churches. For the last 3 years I have been studying Youth work and ministry with Oasis College in London. During this time I worked in two placements; the first as a Youth Worker at Hayes Baptist Church in Middlesex, then as a Faith Mentor with the chaplaincy team at Feltham Young Offenders Institution.
Whilst being in London I enjoyed worshipping in large churches in the city centre such as Holy Trinity Brompton, St. Paul's Cathedral, Hill Songs, Christ church, Soul Survivor.
I am learning how to use a sewing machine so I can design and make my own clothes. I would like to paint on canvas with acrylic paint and can't wait to find out what my painting will look like! I love running, ski-ing, cooking new recipes and being adventurous with food. I research topics to develop myself and enjoy meeting up with friends for coffee. I attend Rosehill Baptist church in Burnley.
