Assemblies
Tony & Esther have led or will lead the following assemblies in March & April

  • The Brooksbank School - Topic 'Choices' pointing young people to the fact of Jesus choice to die in obedience to God's plan.
  • Brighouse High - Topic 'Fear'.
  • Holy Trinity Passion Tide service for all students from Y 7-13

Lessons

  • Feb 11th; The Brooksbank School, Y10 Faith Day -12 sessions of 20 mins. - topic 'Living with Others'
  • March 30th; Hipperholme & Lightcliffe RE day. 'Matters of Life and Death'. Shared leadership with Hospice Movement & Samaritans. CICS subject to be euthanasia.


Rock Solid Lunch Clubs
Esther is now writing material for these
Subjects covered; Communication with friends, parents & God; Where is the love (Valentine special); Lent- The Pancake challenge; Truth & Lies and Choices (Lent follow up)

Lifelight - Holy Trinity March 31st
Tony & Esther to run full day at the Halifax Parish Church for 90 Y7 pupils (half year group). Split into am & pm groups of 45 in each, they will rotate round three activities:-

  • Craft - Stained glass window making
  • Easter Egg Hunt with talk on history of Parish Church and educational elements around Easter
  • Meditation/labyrinth - Jesus journey to the cross, to face young people with the real meaning of the cross, with an opportunity for personal reflection.


Careers Fair - Brighouse High 10th Feb
Information displayed on the work of CICS and careers in youth work, and conversation with Tony & Esther.

Soul Rush
14 girls attended (3 new) Theme 'What is Beautiful‏' Aim - to see beauty from God's perspective. He cares most about personality & attitude rather than looks, however we can enjoy looking good as one of his gifts!

'It's Your Move' (SU publication for Primary school leavers)
Please contact CICS if your church can donate to cost of books or would like to be involved with distribution. Details need to be in hand as soon as possible so books can be ordered.

Networking
Tony & Esther have met Vicky Ledwidge (Yorkshire Youth Alpha co-ordinator) who is based in Todmorden, She will be available to work with young people across Calderdale & beyond.

Halifax Charity Gala
We plan to be represented in procession and have coconut shy & possibly Beat the Goalie on the field. An evening for supporters to help with art work for procession and display on the field and for prayer for CICS work & gala is planned Watch for details!

Please pray that students will respond to the message of the cross this Easter by commitment to Jesus
