The Vision
To provide a Christian Schools Worker, available for all Calderdale Secondary Schools

Objects
The advancement of the Christian Religion in particular but without limitation amongst young people in Schools and Colleges in Calderdale
Aims
  • To offer assistance to Religious Education Departments, Personal Health and Social Education & Citizenship Departments and those with responsibility for School Assemblies
  • To make a contribution to the discussion of moral, ethical, justice, relief and development issues
  • To encourage and support Christian Unions and other Christian groups and societies
  • To forge links with local Churches and Church based groups and between Schools and Churches
  • To promote and liaise with Christian Youth Culture events
  • To help initiate parent / teacher prayer groups in Schools
Objectives
  • To network with local Churches, Youth Workers, Christian teachers and parents
  • o build up prayer support for the work and for individuals
  • To direct young people into Churches for fellowship and support where appropriate
  • To liaise with and give support to groups of Christians in Schools
  • To help young people understand the basic Christian beliefs by assisting in RE lessons and assemblies
  • To provide two-way communication with youngsters, sharing the Gospel and responding to their concern and needs
  • To bring those concerns to the supporters of the work for discussion and possible action where appropriate
  • To present a Christian perspective and challenge on topics in PHSE lessons, thereby helping youngsters to clarify personal issues
  • To provide information and opinion in development issues
  • To make available Christian resources of literature etc.
  • To introduce young people to Christian holidays, events, camps etc.
  • To welcome young people into a Christian setting and to give positive experiences of meeting Christians
  • To foster and present good Christian entertainment
  • To build up teams of school-leavers to witness and share their faith with others
  • To work towards a situation where at least one other worker will eventually give additional support to Christian teachers and interested parents, governors etc.
  • To liaise with LEA, SACRE, Diocesan, professional bodies and other faith groups
  • To provide job descriptions and employment conditions in association with Scripture Union
