Welcome to CICS...
CICS (Christians in Calderdale Schools) is a charity which exists to support and serve Calderdale schools in the relevant communication of the Christian faith. In light of ongoing educational reform, we seek to be flexible in our approach to ensure what we offer schools is practical and in line with the curriculum framework.
Our team offers a wide range of activity to support our Borough's schools:
Within Primary Schools we offer: workshops around exploring death, dying and grief; workshops around Christian events such as Baptism and Easter, Open The Book assemblies as well as visits to churches.
To assist with the transition from Primary to Secondary Schools we distribute the "It's Your Move" booklet to Year 6 students alongside transition events.
In High Schools we offer: workshops within the Religious Education curriculum around abortion, euthanasia, Easter, Christmas, forgiveness, etc; running lunch and after school clubs; assemblies on a wide range of subjects; and, in partnership with other organisations, lessons around alcohol and safety, asylum / human trafficking and budgeting. Some members of the CICS team are also trained to offer mentoring to students.
CICS is part of Scripture Union with a local trustee board who oversee the work. Explore this web site to find out more...
